Overview:

Education is the primary focus of the faculty.  The academic year is divided into three semesters with a new class of students admitted each semester.  Lectures and other educational responsibilities continue throughout the year.  Effective teachers are sought, particularly individuals who are interested in improving medical education and who work well on a team. Ross has conditions ideal for educational research: an engaged faculty whose primary focus is medical education, a large student body, a diversity of learners, and internal funds available to support independent research projects.



Responsibilities:

 The Associate Dean of Medical Education Research will oversee and manage the Ross School of Medicine educational research programs. This individual will help develop and maintain a substantial educational research program at the School that creates a rich educational environment for training medical students, enhances the student's education and exposes students to research as a career opportunity. Essential responsibilities include development and execution of educational research programs and areas of research focus appropriate for Ross University, developing the policies, programs, and staffing which support research and student involvement and exposure to activities in research, and engaging and working cooperatively with individual faculty and interested students to facilitate research and other forms of intellectual pursuit. This individual will serve as the School of Medicine's representative in the areas of research and will work closely with the Dean, Associate Deans of Faculty Affairs, Student Affairs, Education and Curriculum to integrate research into academics and curriculum.  This individual will work with the Associate Dean for Research for Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine to develop programs in which both institutions may participate.

 

 

The qualified candidate will possess the ability to successfully develop and maintain an educational research environment and seek out partnerships with community resources and with affiliated Schools in North America.

 

Will have experience leading a department or division in a progressive, higher education operation; a significant background and experience in research and publication, and provide leadership for strategic planning, ability to work independently and with others, take initiative, showing composure and exercising sound judgment and possess significant knowledge of research programs. Candidate must demonstrate excellent communication, computer and data management skills.



Qualifications:

The candidate must have an earned doctorate from an accredited institution and a record of progressively increasing research and administrative responsibility.

 

This individual who is chosen for this position will have interest and experience in medical education research and also interest in public health and epidemiology.
